1. Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Radius ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Software. Radius is an open-source desktop email client for Gmail, distributed under the MIT License.
2. Description of Service
Radius is a minimal, read-only desktop email client that connects to your Gmail account via OAuth. The Software provides:
- Local caching of your Gmail inbox via SQLite
- A distraction-free email reading interface
- Background incremental sync via the Gmail API
Radius is read-only. It does not send, delete, archive, or modify emails in any way.
3. Account and Authentication
To use Radius, you must:
- Have a valid Gmail account
- Authenticate via Google's OAuth 2.0 service
- Grant Radius read-only access to your Gmail data
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account credentials. Radius does not store your Google password. OAuth tokens are stored in your device's system keychain.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Radius to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe on the rights of others
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software except as permitted by the MIT License
- Use the Software to distribute malware or harmful code
- Attempt to bypass or circumvent any security features
- Scrape, mine, or extract data from Gmail in violation of Google's Terms of Service
5. Data Ownership
Your email data belongs to you. Radius claims no ownership over any content accessed through the Software. All data fetched from Gmail is stored locally on your device. You may export, modify, or delete this data at any time.
6. Intellectual Property
Radius is open-source software licensed under the MIT License.
The Radius name, logo, and associated branding are the property of the project maintainers. The source code is freely available for use, modification, and distribution under the terms of the MIT License.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. This includes but is not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The authors and contributors of Radius make no guarantees that the Software will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.
8. Limitation of Liability
IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE for any claim, damages, or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort, or otherwise, arising from, out of, or in connection with the Software or the use or other dealings in the Software. This limitation applies even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
9. Third-Party Services
Radius relies on Google's Gmail API and OAuth services. Your use of Radius is also subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for any changes, outages, or policies implemented by Google.
10. Termination
You may stop using Radius at any time by uninstalling the Software. You may also revoke Radius's access to your Gmail account via your Google Account settings. Upon revocation, Radius will no longer be able to access your Gmail data.
11. Modifications to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of Radius after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws applicable to open-source software distributed under the MIT License. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the jurisdiction most favorable to the principles of open-source software distribution.
